Hi, my name is Farai and I am the General Manager here at Rhiwlas. Welcome to our website!

I am responsible for running this beautiful, purpose-built home and my passion is to provide an outstanding service for those that we support in a warm and pleasant environment. We look forward to you visiting us.
I have worked for Barchester for a number of years and supported in a number of homes.
Hi, my name is Mandy and I joined the team in April 2020 as the Deputy Manager here at Rhiwlas.
I am an experienced Registered Nurse B.A. (Hons) and my background is in District Nursing (Specialist Practitioner).
I also have a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies Health & Social Care and have held several leadership positions. This has been as a Team Leader for District Nursing in various locations such as Windsor & Ascot in Berkshire and in Jersey (Channel Islands).
More recently I have worked as a Deputy Manager and a Home Manager in Oxfordshire and thoroughly enjoy leading teams and promoting the health, wellbeing and quality of life for residents in my care.
I have been a nurse since 2005 and I have previously worked on an acute medical ward as a Deputy Manager. I particularly enjoy caring for the elderly and I love hearing about their life experiences. My nursing career has given me the opportunity to care for people with a variety of conditions. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and also love reading and gardening.
Hello I am Deb Baughan, I have 20 years’ experience in the care sector during this time I have gained NVQ level 2 & 3 in Business Finance , customer service and communication. I support the General manager to ensure the smooth running of the Administrative and Financial systems within the home
I started as a senior carer and held this position in both our residential and nursing communities within the home. In 2017, I transferred to become Activities Coordinator which was extremely enjoyable as I spent time with our Residents who have a lifetime of experience and memories and I am passionate that this continues when they come to live at Rhiwlas. In late 2019 I moved to manage our residential community and it is vital in my opinion, that our Residents continue to live well and full as they make new memories, share new experiences and I am passionate about the delivery of high quality care.
I am a Welsh speaker, originally from the little welsh village, Bethesda, on the edge of Snowdonia, before moving to Flint, where I have lived for over 30 years. Outside of work, I love walking, gardening and all craft work, and spending time with my 2 sons, Tom and Sam, and my little dog, Ollie.
I joined the team at Rhiwlas in April 2020, after having worked at its sister home for just over 12 months.
I have worked in care for 20+ years and I am passionate about ensuring the people in our care have as much independence, choice and quality of life as possible. I love cooking and my role within the team at Rhiwlas means I am lucky enough to do what I love and hopefully enhance the lives of everyone living here.
Food is so important for so many different reasons – from simple enjoyment and an opportunity to socialise to ensuring individual dietary and nutritional needs are met. I enjoy talking with our residents, getting to know them, learning about their lives and getting some recipe ideas!
Outside of work, I am a member of the National Trust and enjoy visiting & learning about the histories of all the amazing properties in their care. I have two dogs—Toby & Mabel—and our favourite thing is walking at Talacre Beach when the tide is out and it’s windy & drizzly!

Feedback is extremely important to me; it’s not something I take as a personal critique, but more as an opportunity to learn and make life more enjoyable for everyone. It tells me not only what I get right, but also what I need to change or improve on.
Hi, my name is Lesley and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Rhiwlas. I joined the team in 2019 after previously working at our sister home, Bod Hyfryd. Before joining Barchester I had a sewing and textile background of over 20 years in various settings. I really enjoy my role especially my chats with the residents. I have a fantastic team and we work hard to ensure our resident’s environment is kept clean and tidy, a relaxing space they can thrive in.
Jessica Jones BA (Hons)
Hello, my name is Jess, I joined the team in September 2020 after spending a year specialising in residential and dementia care. I understand the significance of having an activity leader build a strong and trusting relationship with the residents, their families and their friends, as this enables us to tailor activities based on their needs and personal preference to ensure a stimulating and sociable place to call home.
Given my studies in Fine Art and English Literature at degree level and Extended Qualification Project in Art Therapy I am able to offer a wide range of creative outlets, but also offer a wide variety of others activities to tend the mind, body and soul of the residents. After my time spent as Ward Activities at Aintree University Hospital under PARTIA (Promoting Art In Aintree), I have seen the wonderful atmosphere created with activities and events and the unequivocal effect they have on the service users wellbeing. I wish to continue that bright and productive atmosphere which will allow everyone to take many positives from their time with Barchester.
Hi, I’m Neil, After 10 years spent working in male and female secure mental rehabilitation units, I found that it was a pleasant change to come and work at Rhiwlas Care Home as our new member of Maintenance under Barchester. I have always been inspired by the wealth of knowledge and stories that the residents I’ve worked with have shared with me and Rhiwlas’ most sprightly residents have ensured that’s ongoing. My prior experience working with individuals living with complex mental health needs only furthers my ability to support and enable others to live a good quality life with a strong sense of independence in a safe and nurturing environment through my consistent upkeep of the building.
Hi my name is Catherine, I really enjoy my role and the challenges it brings. I am based in the reception area of the home which gives me plenty of opportunity to chat with the residents. I have previous experience in the field, so I can tell you that no two days are the same, but I love being in a diverse environment and look forward to my future with Barchester
