Our staff are what hold the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring that residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home. See below to meet some of our friendly faces:
Hi, my name is Sharon and I am the General Manager here at The Rhallt.
I Joined Barchester Healthcare in January 2015 as a Head of Unit, and became a General Manager in January 2016. I have undertaken my Registered General Nurse training and qualified in 1994. The majority of my nursing career has been spent in the community, supporting individuals with complex care needs and management of a diverse team of care workers and nurses. I am very passionate about care delivery and strive to deliver the highest standard of care to all our residents.
My role here at The Rhallt is to ensure that the residents that we support are treated with individuality, dignity and respect whilst ensuring a safe, comfortable and homely environment. To enable me to do this, I also have to ensure a happy, motivated and highly skilled team who share the same passions as myself.
My name is Nicola and I’m the Head of Unit/Unit Manager at The Rhallt. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1992 and worked in Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Renal Medicine before moving to Welshpool Hospital until 2003. I then worked as a Community Nurse for the Local Health Board until September 2019.
My role at The Rhallt is varied and involves managing a team of dedicated Carers and Team Leaders and leading skilled and knowledgeable Staff Nurses. My specialism is Tissue Viability and I am experienced in Palliative Care and Chronic Disease Management. I enjoy my job and feel that working at The Rhallt is both a personal and professional privilege.
Hi I’m Steve and I’m a Team Leader at The Rhallt. I have worked for Barchester for 5 years, initially as a Care Assistant until becoming a Team Leader last year. I work within the Memory Lane community and Ty Rhallt residential home. I’m currently working towards attaining my NVQ Level 3. I enjoy working with the residents here at The Rhallt, providing them with the best standard of care and enriching their daily lives!
I love the team spirit and close relationship between staff and residents at The Rhallt. I try my best to keep everyone smiling and laughing throughout the day.
Hi, my name is Mhayani. I am a Team Leader and Care Assistant at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester in 2012 as a Care Assistant and then in 2019 the opportunity arose to become a Team Leader, working with residents in both our Castell Coch community and the Rhallt residential home. I am passionate about my job and take great pride in delivering the best care to our residents.
My name is Emma and I am a Team Leader at The Rhallt, working within our Castell Coch nursing community and Ty Rhallt residential home. I have worked at The Rhallt for 11 years in total, initially working in the kitchen before progressing on to become a Care Assistant just over 2 years ago.
Last year the opportunity arose to become a Team Leader and for the past 9 months I have been loving my new responsibilities! My role at the Rhallt is to provide a high standard of care to meet individual needs and to work together as a team with all our brilliant, enthusiastic and caring staff.
I enjoy working at the Rhallt with all our wonderful residents and team.
Hello, I’m Karen and I am a Team Leader in The Rhallt’s Memory Lane and Ty Rhallt communities. I joined Barchester over 15 years ago and have gained a lot of experience during that time! I am very proud of my work and get a lot of satisfaction from providing high standards of care and guiding the team.
Kate started at The Rhallt in as an Admin Assistant and in March 2018 became The Rhallt's Administrator. Kate enjoys working together with the team to provide an excellent service for the residents we work for, the families we work with and the team we support.
Hi I’m Sean, Head Activities Coordinator at the Rhallt. I began working at the Rhallt as a Kitchen Assistant and Domestic Assistant in 2017 until an opportunity arose to join the Activities Team. I wanted more time to spend with our residents so I jumped at the chance to become an Activities Co-ordinator.
I work very closely with my Activities team to plan events, arrange fantastic entertainers and seek amazing trips for our residents! I love working as an Activities Co-Ordinator and have an amazing relationship with our residents and relatives! I love creating interesting, different and experimental activities that I think our residents will enjoy!
My name is Serena and I’m one of the Activities Coordinators at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester in February 2019 having recently moved to the area from Belgium, where I was working at a pre-school. I am very cultured, having lived all over the world! Alongside working at The Rhallt, I also work at Berriew Pre-school.
My role at the Rhallt is to enrich our residents lives, plan interesting activities and make sure our residents are happy and never bored! I love my job and find it so satisfying being able to make people laugh and smile! I’m also a Welsh speaker and proud of my Welsh culture! I take the lead in promoting the Welsh offer at the Rhallt.
Mel joined Barchester in 2018 and initially worked with the catering team before moving to activities. Working with relatives and families, Mel devises and delivers an exciting programme of activities to residents, which includes frequent trips out of the home using our own minibus, as well as regular visiting groups, such as nursery infants, local schools, choirs, singers, other musicians and therapy animals.
My name is Jo and I’m a Nurse working in the Memory Lane community at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester over 6 years ago and have loved it ever since. Prior to joining Barchester, I worked for the NHS in London. I trained as a Nurse at Middlesex University before this. I enjoy working with the residents of our Memory Lane community and have an amazing team!
I live in Llanymynech with my partner and French Bulldog, Frank. Frank comes in sometimes to visit the residents and staff.
Hello, I’m Sadie, one of the nurses on the Castell Coch community at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester over 21 years ago now! I have been working at the Rhallt since it first opened. Prior to joining Barchester I was Deputy Manager at Greenfields EMI in Oswestry, until it closed, which is when I began at The Rhallt.
I trained as a RGN in Shrewsbury then worked there for a while after finishing training. I love life at the Rhallt! Having been here for so long, I have lots of experience in Nursing and know everyone really well. I love my work, providing the best standards of care is something I am really proud of! I work with an amazing team at the Rhallt!
Hi, I’m Mandy, one of the nurses of the Castell Coch community at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester in 2013 and am proud to be a part of such a caring team. I aim to give each resident high quality care, delivered with dignity, compassion and a friendly smile, whilst creating a homely environment for our residents!
My Name is Cristina, I’m one of the nurses of the Castell Coch community here at the Rhallt. I joined Barchester over 16 years ago and in that time I have worked as a nurse in both the Castell Coch community and the residential home. I love providing our residents with the best quality care!
I am proud to be a part of an amazing team of carers, working with fantastic residents!
Anne-Marie joined Barchester in 2012 after moving from Lancashire. She has lots of nursing experience in other care homes and she understands the complex needs of the people we support. She enjoys coming to work every day, and always has a smile and her face with willingness to help.
Jo will greet you in reception with a smile! She prides herself on delivering excellent service, and has been working for The Rhallt since 2015.
Alfie always has a smile on his face and will help with anything he can. He is a qualified electrician and can fix almost anything! He won the Barchester Maintenance Man of the Year Award in 2016 and he also received his 10 year Long Service Award in 2018. Alfie always has time for a quick chat, especially if it’s about sport.
Cath has experience working as a support worker with children and adults with learning disabilities. She is a chef by experience and has been with The Rhallt since January 2018. Cath has over 20 years’ experience in catering and always greets you with a smile in the kitchen.
I have been in the catering industry for over 20 years now. I am always here to lend a helping hand wherever I can. I have worked at The Rhallt as a chef since 2014 and I am a proud Welsh speaker.
Teresa worked as a Carer for over 13 years within the community, including The Rhallt. She received her 10 year Long Service Award in 2018 and has been named as the Employee of the Month on multiple occasions. She has been working in the kitchen at The Rhallt since 2017.
Hi I’m Alanna and I work as a Domestic Assistant at The Rhallt. I joined Barchester in December 2018, before which I worked within the local community as a Care Assistant. I pride myself in maintaining the high standard of cleanliness at The Rhallt.
My name is Jemma and I joined Barchester over 5 years ago initially as a Care Assistant. After the birth of my son, I changed roles and became a Domestic Assistant. In August 2018 I was offered the opportunity to become Head Housekeeper. I pride myself in managing my team of Housekeepers to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness within The Rhallt!
Hello, my name is Katie and I have been working as a Care Assistant at The Rhallt for 5 years, during which time I have attained my NVQ Level 3. I work mostly on the Castell Coch community, but you will sometimes see me working on other communities or in other departments. I enjoy my find! I pride myself on providing my residents with the highest standard of care and on my ability to brighten everyone’s day with my constant smile!
My name is Sandra and I am a Care Assistant on the Memory Lane community. I joined Barchester almost 15 years ago now. I am currently working towards my NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. I find working at The Rhallt so enjoyable and satisfying, with each day being different it is never boring! I work with a fantastic team who all strive to provide the best standards of care.
Hi, I’m Sharon and I’m a Care Assistant, working in the Memory Lane community here at The Rhallt since joining Barchester in January 2019. I have loads of experience of care work, having worked as a Care Assistant for many years. Prior to joining Barchester, I worked at Llwyn Teg. Since being with Barchester for a fairly short time, I have already been awarded Employee of the Month.
I have attained my NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. I love working at The Rhallt! I feel really proud to be in a position whereby I can support residents and provide them with the best care! I love my team on the Memory Lane community, we have a real laugh! Finally, I’m a proud Geordie Lass!
I have worked in the care sector for over 10 years, and I am currently working towards my NVQ level 2. I find my work as a Care Assistant to be very rewarding and enjoy working as part of the team on the elderly frail unit at The Rhallt.
Hello, my name is Sharon. I've worked in the care industry for just over 30 years, deciding to join Barchester in 2019. I have achieved my NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care. Prior to joining Barchester I owned my own cleaning business, Keep It Clean. I was born in Shrewsbury hospital, I've lived in Montgomery since I was born until just recently when I moved to Welshpool. My mum and dad still live in Montgomery, I have 3 younger brothers. I have 2 children.
I applied to work at the Rhallt and I was accepted and started in July 2019, I joined the team that work within the Memory Lane community.
Hi I’m Cath. I’ve been a Care Assistant at The Rhallt since August 2019. Before joining Barchester I worked as a Care Assistant at the Ashwood Care Centre in Warminster. I’ve worked in Care since 2017. I really enjoy working at The Rhallt, we have a great team! I love chatting to our residents and making sure they are all happy!
Hi, my name is Caitlin and I am a Care Assistant at The Rhallt. I initially joined Barchester as a Kitchen Assistant in 2016 before progressing on to become a Care Assistant. I work within the Memory Lane community and really enjoy my role! I thrive in providing the best standard of care and enriching the lives of our residents!
I work with the Activities Team to assist in hosting engaging and enjoyable activities for our residents!
Hello, I’m Frankie. I joined Barchester in October 2019 as a Care Assistant on The Rhallt’s Memory Lane community. I strive to provide high quality care for our residents, ensuring dignity and respect, whilst promoting independence. I have been a Care Assistant since 2007 and completed relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care.
I live in Llanfair with my family. I have two sons, aged 9 and 11. Working for Barchester allows me to enjoy the perfect work/home balance.
Hi, I’m Kayleigh. I am a Care Assistant on the Castell Coch community of The Rhallt. I have been working with Barchester for 3 years now and love my role! I love spending time with our residents and providing them with the high quality of care they deserve! Working at The Rhallt has allowed me the opportunity to access and attain relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care, I have just recently completed my NVQ Level 3.
I live in Welshpool with my partner and daughter. Working at The Rhallt means I can spend quality time with my family, whilst also doing a job that fills me with pride and satisfaction!
Joyce is the Rhallt’s relative ambassador. Joyce is here almost every day visiting her husband living in our Castell Coch community. Joyce is very friendly with all the staff, residents and relatives at the Rhallt and is always happy to chat and help if she can.
Joyce attends all relative meetings and if a relative has any queries, Joyce can discuss these for you at meetings. Joyce also regularly attends the Rhallt’s Whist Drive on Wednesday afternoons.
