Meet our Activities Coordinator, Aelonwy Merch Rose Cadwallader
Aelonwy joined Barchester in July 2019 as an activities coordinator, helping Mel Bird on the Castell Coch community. Aelonwy has previously worked in care as well as support care worker for people with learning difficulties and individuals with challenging behaviours. Aelonwy is looking forward to face new challenges as an activities coordinator at our home.
Activities at our home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Life at our home
We had a lovely day at the Rhallt. Staff and residents organised a car wash in order to raise money for outings. People from the community enjoyed a donut and a cuppa while waited for our activities coordinators to wash their cars, some of the residents joined in with a helping hand too. Thank you for your support! We have raised £30!
The Rhallt in Bloom
We are delighted to announce that we have been named as a Divisional Winner for Barchester in Bloom's 'Garden of the Year' competition.
Chocolate Tasting Adventure
Residents loved indulging in different types of chocolate, from Turkish Delights to dark chocolate buttons, this activity was a huge success!
Icing On The Cake
National Cupcake Day has been a real treat at Rhallt Home, where sweet-toothed staff and residents got out of their aprons and mixing bowls to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. Baking is a much-loved hobby for many people living and working at the home. The team used the occasion to host a celebration for all residents, their families and guests. Fun activities on the day included: a fantastic rose cupcake bouquet raffle, cupcake games, cupcake sale and live music. Everyone laughed when a resident smashed a creamed cupcake on the face of the Activity Coordinator. It was a successful day at Rhallt house, filled with fun, smiles and of course donations.
The Countryside Experience
We took a trip to Oswestry to enjoy a countryside experience at Park Hall. Residents got to browse around in the gift shop, feed the baby lambs, feed the goats and sheep and enjoy a lovely lunch in the café before heading back.
A lovely day out, along the canal, all residents enjoyed the trip and had a nice picnic on the boat. One of the residents and his wife celebrated a Golden Anniversary, which made the day even more special.
