Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Christmas Preparations
On Tuesday 27th October, Cathy, Joy and Sebastian met to start organising Christmas for our residents.
Dunelm are preparing fabulous gifts for our residents, along with a virtual shopping session. Our residents will be able to shop via FaceTime, with a little help of shop assistants.
Before the store opens, Cathy and the the Dunelm team, directed by our residents, will be able to pick their favourite items in a very safe way.
Halloween at Marnel
Everybody dressed up for special party with plenty of tasty food and delicious drinks. Despite the difficult situation with COVID-19 restrictions, Marnel had managed to keep up with tradition in a different way. We left plenty of sweets on neighbours’ doorstep to keep children happy, but at the same time, we avoided direct contact
Halloween House
Residents and the team surprised everybody by constructing a Halloween house. This year, we are having a Halloween celebration across an entire week. This is a pre-Halloween warm up. More to come soon!
Winter Wonderland
Our team created this lovely winter garden for our residents and relatives to support ongoing external meetings. The garden has three separate heaters safely placed on the main wall, which produce warmth and comfort.
This winter garden was well executed by Keith and Monic, our fabulous maintenance team. Well done!
Oktoberfest
Our residents and team truly enjoyed Oktoberfest in style. This year, Oktoberfest took place in the cinema, where we shared with our residents original footage from this event recorded last year in Germany. It was great fun and, of course, fantastic food.
110th Birthday Celebrations
Our lovely resident, Alice, celebrated her 110th birthday recently. All teams managed to surprise Alice with a great party (official guidance applied).
Our team sent 110 balloons with personal messages up in the sky to share such a great news. The Mayor of Basingstoke sent a special video message to Alice, as well as ITV Meridian, have wished Alice many happy returns.
It was very special day!
