Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Coordinators

We both joined Marnel a while ago and we are very excited to be part of such a proactive and dedicated team. There are lots of ideas and innovations, all to enhance quality of life of our residents. Every day is different and to understand the needs of our residents, building relationship with them and keeping in touch with their families and friends, is the most important and rewarding job we could have wish for.

Fashion Show

Fashion Show

Marnel Lodge held their first Fashion Show. Friends of Marnel Lodge, as well as one of the residents from Memory Lane, helped to model the clothes.

We all had a great time looking at the summer clothes from Bonmarche, who kindly helped us arrange the Fashion Show.

Odd Shoes Day

Odd Shoes Day

Marnel Lodge wore odd shoes for Dementia Awareness Week. As you can see by the picture, we had lots of fun. This was done to raise awareness about dementia and the impact it has on people's lives.

"So, don't define me by my odd shoes; I'm just the same, but I can't choose."

International Nurses' Day at Marnel Lodge

International Nurses' Day at Marnel Lodge

Our lovely nurses had their pictures taken in our garden. We made a collage of all their photos from when they started their career in nursing. They all loved their travel mugs, which they received from Barchester to mark the day.

Heart & Soul Awards

Heart & Soul Awards

Michael Baker was nominated for a Heart & Soul Award by Pam Joseph for sitting with her mum for several hours at the end of her shift, which she will be continually grateful for.

The Queen's Garden

The Queen's Garden

The residents of Marnel Lodge wanted to mark the Queen's 90th birthday, so they decided that it would be nice for us to have a new garden. The maintenance team planted flowers in red, white and blue in keeping with the occasion. Pictured is Rosie, our 102 year old resident, and one of the carers. They were delighted with the result.

Queen's Birthday Celebrations at Marnel Lodge

Queen's Birthday Celebrations at Marnel Lodge

Marnel Lodge celebrated the Queen's birthday in style. We all got together and had a good ol' sing song. A Union Jack cake was made for everyone by our chef, Chris. We then raised a toast to Her Majesty with a glass of bubbly.
