Activities at The Manor Care Home

Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey

Life Enrichment Lead

I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.

I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

A Wonderful Dining Experience

The Dining experience at The Manor is always an event.

It is said that we eat with our eyes, and with these photos, which are an example of our exquisite food, we are sure you will agree.

The entire team in the kitchen are dedicated to making delicious dishes and there is rarely a crumb left.

Cavalry Carbine Gun collection hobby.

Here at The Manor, supporting Life Long Hobbies is hugely important and something our Activities team take very seriously. Pictured, you can see Doug and Marc. Doug’s hobby spans 40 years and sees him regularly tending, polishing and cleaning up his two 1842 Cavalry Carbine Gun collection.   The Antique Guns have been inactive for several decades, and were interestingly last in full working order when they were used by the Indian Army in the Mutiny in 1857.

David Attenborough afternoon at The Manor

The Manor's residents were enthralled by a wonderful David Attenborough programme. Relaxing in one of The Manor's comfortable lounges and enjoying a homemade Afternoon Tea of fresh sandwiches, cakes and other delicious treats, we all enjoyed a perfect Winter's afternoon.

Nature watching at The Manor

Yesterday at The Manor saw a perfect winters day for us to wrap up warm and head into our gardens for a walk and Nature Watch. The Manor's well established gardens lend themselves perfectly for such activities and the crisp, fresh winters air was incredibly refreshing.

Dreaming of Summer at The Manor

On Winter evenings like the ones we experience in February, we love nothing more than planning ahead to the Summer months. Our beautiful surroundings are set to host a number of fantastic events. Keep following us for updates. Just take a look at this photo of our stunning garden! What a perfect setting for all occasions. #barchester #themanor #summertime

Pamper Time at The Manor

Nothing feels quite as lovely as a trip to the Hairdressers! Here at The Manor, we have our own Salon, which is always ready to welcome our residents. We have our own hairdresser as part of our team and we look forward to seeing plenty more glamourous hairstyles around our lovely home. #kenwyn #barchester #beautiful #pampertime
