Activities at The Manor Care Home

Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey

Life Enrichment Lead

I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.

I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Spring BBQ

Our Head Chef can be seen above preparing for our first sunny day (social distancing) BBQ! The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Gin Tasting Afternoon

Residents and family members enjoyed a range of different varieties of gins and canapés to accompany the gin. Some residents even enjoyed a little dance with loved ones to end a very enjoyable afternoon.

Celebrating 10 Years

Pete has been a valued colleague at The Manor since 2010. This important 10 year anniversary was celebrated with the presentation of a Long Service Award. Pete’s contribution to The Manor, and particularly the maintenance team, has been both significant and enduring, and he always goes out of his way to help support wherever is needed.

Life on the veg...

Our Activities Co-ordinator has a passion for Vegan foods so the residents wanted to find out more and sample some vegan friendly dishes. We had an afternoon of vegan tasting which went down a treat!

Baking at the Manor

We brightened up a cold day by making home baked shortbread. These went down an absolute treat with a cup of tea, not only were they delicious but the smell carried throughout the home!

Ice Skating at Taunton Ice Rink

To beat those January blues we decided to take full advantage of the local ice rink in Taunton. We dressed up warm and had a fun filled afternoon on the ice, we then warmed up with a hot chocolate and marshmallows!
