Activities at The Manor Care Home

Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey

Life Enrichment Lead

I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.

I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Painting up a Storm

This morning we kept ourselves away from the wind and heavy rain by getting our creative juices flowing with some drawing and painting. One off our gentleman got really involved and decided to draw others whilst they were enjoying the activity. We were all so impressed with his work. He told us he used to draw all the goodbye cards for people who was leaving the office and he loved doing this.

Shrove Tuesday

We've had a flippin' great time this afternoon, celebrating Shrove Tuesday. Our residents have helped to prepare the pancake mix, and trying them  with all different topping from Nutella and Cherry Compote to the traditional Lemon and Sugar. We hope everyone filled themselves up with all the pancakes possible.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

We had a lovely trip out recently taking our residents out for coffee Rumwell Farm Shop. It brought back fond memories for one off our gentleman as he used to visit here and do his shopping with his belated wife regularly. He recognized a lot off the staff and the staff remembered him fondly and even remembering his order. Many thanks to everyone at Rumwell Farm Shop his afternoon was truly made.

The Manor's Carol Service

Residents here at the manor had a lovely time hosting our annual Carol service of which was our biggest attendance to date with our fantastic local vicars Phil Hughes and Deborah Kirk, We all enjoyed singing our favourite carols and enjoyed a warm mulled wine and mince pies afterwards. We would like to give another thank you to Phil and Deborah for all they have done for us this year and wish them and their family a very Merry Christmas.

The Manor's Staff Panto

OH YES WE DID …. We performed Jack and Beanstalk to our residents and their families today. So much laughter and smiles all around. A big thank you to Shelly our Home Trainer for putting together the script and a thank you to  all the staff that performed to put smiles on everyone’s faces. Everyone is looking forwards to next year’s show

Stepping into Christmas

What a fantastic way to kick-start our Christmas countdown than to host our annual Christmas fayre on a bitterly cold day. We had a variety of different craft and food stalls, hot food on arrival, liver music from the talented Marion and a visit from a very special man Father Christmas. We would like to give a huge mention to the stall holders who helped made this event go ahead for our residents and to our volunteers who helped made the day go so well.
