Activities at Lakeside Care Home

Our activities staff each bring their own strengths to the table here at Lakeside, which results in a varied list of social events being offered to residents. We have regular outings to restaurants for lunches, afternoon tea & cakes, and through the summer months, we have beach trips with ice cream and picnics, which residents request regularly. On a weekly basis, there is a variety of sports, musical entertainment, hairdressing, one-to-one sessions, exercise programmes, quizzes and PAT dogs available to those we support. On Monday morning each resident receives an activities programme for the week's events and can opt in and out of what they want.

Flora & Fauna of Lakeside

Last week was the Chelsea Flower Show, where the citizens of west London were engaged in all things horticultural, but if you were to find yourself in the wilds of St Peter, you could be forgiven for thinking that a little bit of Chelsea had come to Lakeside Care Home.

With a condescending nod to its prestigious sibling, Lakeside held its own flower show, celebrating all things bright and beautiful.

Residents and staff were tasked with creating flower arrangements and preparing hanging baskets and pots to decorate the inside and outside of the home with.

Some were experienced flower arrangers and some were keen amateurs who were just happy to get their hands dirty, but every single person exhibited such enthusiasm - it was a joy to see!

A Big Thank You from Lakeside Care Home

Friday 12th May will go down in the annals of Lakeside as the day that excellence came to visit.

Harriet Mackenzie and Morgan Szymanski arrived without fuss or fanfare, set up in the residents' lounge, threw their coats and bags on the table and proceeded to blow the minds of residents and staff alike!

Lakeside residents, many of whom find it difficult to travel, were given an exhibition of beautiful violin and guitar playing in their own home - what an absolute treat!

Music in Action is a charity that promotes music and ballet to the people of Jersey. As part of its outreach project, artists of international renown play recitals for hundreds of people, both young and old, each year.

Many thanks to Music in Action and many thanks to the people behind the scenes who made this possible, especially to Harriet and Morgan, who gave Lakeside residents and staff a very special afternoon that will be long remembered.

Harriet Mackenzie is an internationally renowned concerto soloist and has performed across five continents. She is described as ‘a player destined for future glories’ (Classical Guitar Magazine). Morgan Szymanski has been highlighted as ‘one to watch’ by both Gramophone Magazine and the BBC Music Magazine.

Our chef helped residents decorate some cupcakes, which were then donated to Children in Need. We also held a pyjama party, a grand raffle, and a cupcake competition.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Lakeside Care Home had a very successful event on Friday 30th September hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Photos show the brilliant skills of our pastry chef with his decorative cup cakes which guests enjoyed with a coffee and a chat! Residents joined in the fun and agreed that, due to the popularity of cupcakes, we will be creating more at the Christmas Fayre!

Many thanks to everyone who made the morning so successful and fun.

We managed to raise a grand total of £165.97.
