Activities at Lakeside Care Home

Our activities staff each bring their own strengths to the table here at Lakeside, which results in a varied list of social events being offered to residents. We have regular outings to restaurants for lunches, afternoon tea & cakes, and through the summer months, we have beach trips with ice cream and picnics, which residents request regularly. On a weekly basis, there is a variety of sports, musical entertainment, hairdressing, one-to-one sessions, exercise programmes, quizzes and PAT dogs available to those we support. On Monday morning each resident receives an activities programme for the week's events and can opt in and out of what they want.

Robert Gallagher

Activities Coordinator

My name is Bobby and I have the great privilege of working at Lakeside Care Home as the Activities Coordinator.

My job is fun and very rewarding – and I love it! I regularly invite musicians, artists, bell ringers, gardeners, chefs, and various other entertainers into the home to bring joy to the lives of residents who are living here.

25th anniversary celebrations

At Lakeside Village we love a good party! This year we are celebrating Barchester's 25th Anniversary and we did it in style.

Thanks go to: Bobby, Radu and Kay for organising the food, wine and party; Country Sunshine for getting us to line dance;  All the Lakeside Village staff for making sure everybody had a good time; and Residents and families who came and enjoyed themselves.

Watch out for details of our next Village party!

Employee of the Month - September

Employee of the Month - September

Congratulations to Nida and Fatima who have both been chosen by our residents and their families as employees of the month for their care, support and compassion.

Lakeside Village is proud of you both!

Chef of the Year

Chef of the Year

One of the great things about Barchester is that everybody has fun; we celebrated our Head Chef’s success in the Chef of the Year competition in July.

There was party food by our award-winning chef with lots of music and groovy dancing.

Baking at Lakeside

Baking at Lakeside

The Great British Bake Off may have moved from the BBC, but the Great Lakeside Bake Off continues to flourish at Lakeside Manor.

We have a secret recipe and ensure lashings of jam and cream

Who needs a hand shake from Paul Hollywood when you can have a scone from Lakeside?

Bell Ringing

Bell Ringing

We have a wide range of musical events – we recently enjoyed a very happy morning listening to popular tunes being recreated using handbells

Many residents also had a go and we not only had tunes, but also peals of laughter too.

The bell ringers will be returning soon!

Battle of Britain Party

Every year in September, the island holds an air display. At this event, many people take time to remember what other generations did so that we can enjoy our freedom.

Our island was invaded and liberated but we will never forget...
