Activities at Kingsland House Care Home
Kingsland House have a variety of activities that our residents help us choose. Celebrating Life in our home is jovial and fun and from our weekly delivered activity sheet, our residents can chose exactly what they want to join in with.
Our activities range from exercise classes, gardening, arts and crafts, games to food-fun clubs. We also offer our in house church services, our own home cinema, our mobile pub - The Kingsland Tavern, visiting Pat Dogs, musical entertainers, minibus outings, theme days and birthday celebrations. For those residents being nursed in their rooms we have one to one activities sessions.
At Kingsland House we believe that activities are hugely important to stimulate and uplift, and getting to know our residents interests and lifestyle choices assist our activities team in creating events and activities to suit their expressed wishes and capabilities. We also encourage our residents' families and friends to join in with as much as they can to make Kingsland House a loving family atmosphere.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Kingsland House Care Home
Vaccinations for our residents and staff
Residents were delighted to receive the first round of the Coronavirus vaccine without leaving the home along with a number of staff last week. The team from Harbour View Surgery in Pond Road who the vaccinations had already administered the vaccine to other staff who visited the surgery before Christmas.
General Manager, Karen Williams said: “We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Residents said they felt comfortable and reassured at all times so we are so grateful for the surgeries support.”
Residents create flower arrangements for the home
Residents recently enjoyed a flower arranging afternoon, this consisted of creating beautiful floral displays for the dining areas within Kingsland house, and was great success with the residents loving the vast array of colours.
The activities coordinator Sarah Hiscock supports the personal interests of residents so they can continue with their individual hobbies in an effort to celebrate life as often as we can.
Keeping in touch with loved ones
Technology has made keeping in touch during 2020 so much easier than we ever expected, our tablets were in regular use with Skype and Zoom calls to and by residents. The visiting suite is busy with appointments now booked online however our tablets help friends and relatives from further afield keep in regular contact too.
Our New Visiting Pod
Residents are overjoyed at Kingsland House, as Barchester has implemented a visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons, in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.
Balancing resident well-being and safety is at the forefront of Barchester's thinking, and we understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.
National Elf Day
Staff swapped their uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day on the 4th December in an effort to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards the cure for dementia.
From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits, anything goes – there’s snow better way to raise money to help beat dementia!
A Digital Visit
Residents at Kingsland House recently enjoyed an afternoon asking Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, lots of questions on many matters, from COVID-19 to Brexit; and it meant so much to residents, as visitors are currently not able to visit the home at this time.
As Tim Loughton had an outside visit back in the autumn, he was unable to see any residents, so a Zoom call was set up so that they could put their questions to him.
