Life at Kingsland House Care Home

Residents and their loved ones back together with indoor visiting

Residents are overjoyed as from Monday the 8th March every care home resident has nominated a single named visitor who will be able to enter Kingsland House for regular visits. These visitors will be tested using rapid lateral flow tests before every visit, wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all other infection control during visits.

Pictured here is Gwen who with the help of staff was able to meet her husband face to face for the first time in over a year.

Karen Williams, General Manager at the home, said, "It is wonderful to be able to see the residents with their loved ones once again, it brings a little normality back to Kingsland House, it’s an emotional time."

Roger, Gwen’s husband was overwhelmed with seeing Gwen he said it was so lovely to see Gwen and that he would be back to see her next week.

Residents choose Fire Brigade to receive homemade cakes!

Residents and staff at Kingsland house care home recently enjoyed thanking the local fire brigade with homemade cakes. Our residents got to choose who they would like to send a treat to for their hard work during the pandemic and they choose the fire brigade.

Karen Williams, General Manager said: “In these unprecedented times, ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community is more important than ever. Our residents really enjoyed sending the fire brigade a treat. We provide a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual activities at Kingsland House as part of the life enrichment programme for residents, and this one was very popular! We have also adapted ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice”

The local fire brigade were very appreciative of the cakes and as they had just returned back from a shout, they would be enjoying them with a well-deserved cup of coffee.

Gardening Club

Wrapped up warmly there are still jobs to do outside and some residents do enjoy the fresh bracing air. We started with a tidy up of the raised beds and planting Delilah’s ready for the summer. Still plenty to do, we can be planning inside with our seed catalogues when its wet as we would love to see some colourful flowers in the months to come.

Competition time in the corridor!

Residents recently enjoyed an afternoon playing skittles, the skittles were brought in by a resident as a different activity to enjoy inside, the flat corridor is the perfect place - you can see its going well and the competitive spirit is coming out!

Our Art class

We offer residents time and encouragement to discover new hobbies or rediscover a craft they may not have enjoyed for some time - we provide all the equipment and love to see the joy it brings.
