Activities at Hundens Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can

Barchester Care Awards 2023 - Divisional Winner!

We're so happy to announce that Lisa Rawlinson has been crowned Activities Coordinator of the Year for the Hospitals and Complex Care Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2023 and is through to the national round of judging.

The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 252 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.

Christmas Tipple Bar

Although we weren’t able to host our usual whole home Christmas parties, our Activities Coordinator was able to set up a portable Christmas tipple bar. This made it possible to safely deliver individual drinks to each resident of their choice and sprinkle a bit of festive fun along the way.

'70s Party

We had a fabulous '70s-themed party recently. Residents helped make the decorations through the week. They told us about their favourite memories and singers from that time period, and we put together some reminiscence materials in the way of old catalogues and concert tickets, as well as photos of what they’d described.

We partied all afternoon with some traditional '70s party food like scampi, quiche & a hotdog, cheese and pickled onion hedgehog, and we danced to some amazing music.

Harvest Festival

We took this opportunity to give back to the community, as they have been so generous to us over lockdown. Our staff brought in donations themselves and we contacted Morrison’s, who have previously brought us an incredibly generous donation of Easter eggs at the start of lock down.

We have created a display, which all were involved with, and once everyone has seen the display, the goods will be distributed to a local foodbank.

Balloon Crafts

Our staff and residents have been hard at work this month crafting some hot air balloons and clouds to decorate one of our Memory Lane units, Darnton.

Darnton has a transport-themed corridor, and this activity allowed and encouraged the resident to be involved in the personalisation of their own home.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Friday 25th September, we held a Macmillan Coffee Morning full of music, laughs and games with tasty prizes.
