Activities at High Habberley House

Our activities programme is created with the residents' requests in mind and we always try to utilise feedback from resident meetings to the best of our abilities. Residents are involved in planning our activity schedules throughout the year and are encouraged to suggest things relating to their favourites hobbies and interests. There are a mixture of activities that take place, including both group and one-to-one engagements. Residents particularly enjoy bingo, skittles and darts, as well as quizzes and puzzles. Then there is the sensory lounge, where residents like to go to read books and get creative with some arts and crafts. When the weather is nice, we host activities in our garden, or sometimes we just sit out and enjoy the weather with some nice refreshments.

Local vicar, Carol, visits us once a month to host a holy communion for those who are interested. Also, we have a reflexologist who stops by every month to give much-needed relaxing massages to those we support. There's plenty of live entertainment as well, including local singers, who visit to perform for residents.

We have a minibus that enables us to involve residents with their community in ways that suit themselves as individuals. They're free to pick the destinations, which often include trips to the local pubs, the local town, Bewdley, to see the museum, and all the old shops where they can sit by the riverside and enjoy fish & chips. And last but not least: we often go down to Habberley Valley for a stroll around the grounds to enjoy the pleasant environment that the valley has to offer.

Employee of the Month - December

Congratulations to Housekeeper, Sarah Edwards, who was named as High Habberley's Employee of the Month in December. Sarah was nominated for being a hard worker, constantly going the extra mile to help out and for always having a smile on her face.

Barchester's 25th Anniversary

On Saturday 14th October, we held an open day at our to celebrate Barchester’s 25th Birthday anniversary. It was also a great opportunity to showcase all of the hard work that has been going into the home over the last few months, which has seen some really positive results achieved.

It was a real team effort to plan, organise and run the open day, with staff from High Habberley partnering with team members from both Hollyfields and Collingtree Park homes. There was an afternoon tea party and there were plenty of lovely homemade cakes, cream scones, together with cups of tea served up!

We had lots of members of the general public come into our home to share the celebration along with loved ones, residents and staff. The open day was a real success and it was a perfect way to show everyone what a wonderful home we have at High Habberley. ‘

Amazing Alpacas!

Alpacas paid a visit to High Habberley residents and enjoyed being groomed and fed. It was a lot of fun walking them around the home to meet residents in their rooms.
