Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Wonderful Work

We recently had volunteers from Norwich Rotary Club, who offered to plant some crocus bulbs in our Memory Lane garden. One of our residents enjoyed chatting with the volunteers and getting involved in planting the bulbs. Thank you so much to the Rotary Club for a lovely morning, our residents will thoroughly enjoy watching the bulbs bloom in Spring!

We have also been very lucky to also have Aviva Volunteers, who came along to paint garden furniture for our sensory garden on our Memory Lane community. Everyone worked so hard and it was an absolute pleasure to have such a great bunch of people here, singing along to Christmas music while they worked. The end result was fantastic and will really brighten up our garden.

Thank you so very much to everyone involved, especially Kelly from Friend in Deed, for putting us in touch with both of these groups.

Stalls Galore

On Saturday 7th December, we welcomed residents, relatives and various groups within the community to enjoy a variety of different stalls at our annual Christmas Market.

Stall holders from the local village of Hethersett and surrounding areas attended with many different items to sell. Some of our residents bought some very special gifts for their relatives and even treated themselves. It was quite a busy, yet wonderful afternoon, and everyone seemed to really enjoy the event.

A special thank you to all our stall holders, including Birdies Boutique, Tracy from Usborne Books, Angie, Drizzle, The Little Chocolaterie, Valerie, Hurley Burley Jewlery, Hodge Podge, Jo from the Big C, Angela’s Cards, Davina, Jennifer, Veronica, Gwen, Ed and Mr Dod for displaying a wide variety of items. Thank you to our wonderful staff who made cakes and special crafts for our staff stall too!

A SPOOK-tacular Halloween !

We had a spooky afternoon tea with lots of delicious cakes and biscuits, which our residents helped to decorate with hundreds and thousands, colourful icing and chocolate drops to make an extra special treat!

Our lovely staff made a great effort to dress up too; they all looked amazing, from Dracula to a court jester – even some of our residents dressed up and flew around on their broom stick to surprise the other residents and put a smile on their faces. Jayne from Splash Duo gave a great all hallows eve performance!

On Saturday, we welcomed our little visitors for our Friend in Deed Halloween party. Our little visitors dressed up as their favourite trick or treat monsters, and residents enjoyed seeing the great effort put in by them and their grown-ups. Thank you to all the monsters!

Wearing it Pink

On Friday 18th Octobe, we took part in 'Wear it Pink”'to raise money for Breast Cancer Now by hosting yet another successful cake sale. Residents and staff showed their support by wearing pink and making donations to this important cause.

Thank you to everyone for your donations and support.

All Aboard!

Here at Hethersett Hall, we value our residents' feedback and requests for activities, so we have been busy planning boat trips—as requested.

We travelled to Stalham and Beccles to enjoy a guided tour along the river with a company called Waveney Stardust, who are a registered charity and all volunteer-based. The volunteers were very welcoming and helpful, they even provided a cup of tea or coffee onboard.

Our residents seemed to really enjoy themselves and luckily we managed to enjoy the last of the summer weather.

A huge thank you to Waveney Stardust for making it so enjoyable, and also to our wonderful team of staff.
