Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home
Christmas cocktails
Here at Glenroyd we organised a Christmas themed day with a variety of interesting activities.
In the morning our residents, with the help of the team, got involved in a mince pie baking session. The traditional pies were filled with a mixture of dried fruits and spices and specially decorated by the residents.
In the afternoon, we held a mince pie tasting session, where our residents enjoyed the delicious pies along with mulled wine and special Christmas cocktails, such as Classic Eggnog, Brandy Alexander, Mulled wine with figs and Old fashion Snowball Cocktail.
A lovely time was had by all.
Christmas truffles
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.
Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.
To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.
We all had a wonderful time.
Baubles
We all had a wonderful time joining Jennifer Owen - founder of Goldfinch Floral Studio for a creative floral bauble workshop.
Jennifer transported our residents to the out of the ordinary world of flowers and crafts and demonstrated how to create stunning hand-made baubles filled with dried flowers and grasses.
Our residents enjoyed filling and decorating their own glass baubles and their unique creations will be displayed at the home for everyone to enjoy.
Christmas lights
We experienced the Christmas extravaganza of Blenheim Palace with Social Historian - Antonia Keaney, who took us on a recorded tour around the Christmas sights at the palace this year.
St Andrews Day
Today we celebrated the national day of Scotland and their patron Saint Andrew.
We marked the day with a celebrations of the Scottish culture – with traditional Scottish dances, music, food and drinks.
Our residents also learnt interesting facts about St Andrew, who surprisingly was not Scottish.
We hosted a quiz afternoon with 35 questions about Scotland and watched some highland dancing virtually.
It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.
Decorating the home
In preparation for the upcoming Christmas festivities, we spent time decorating our home with colourful themed ornaments, lights and baubles.
Our residents had fun creating the home’s Christmas display and got involved in arts and crafts sessions to paint baubles and make the beautiful decorations for our Christmas tree.
We held a special lights switch-on ceremony, where we turned on the Christmas lights at the home.
Everyone had an amazing time and we are all looking forward to the holidays.
