Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Zoo Lab returns

Fountains residents were delighted to welcome back Dominique from Zoo Lab for a show and tell.

This time Dominique brought a new group of animals. They included; a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, a Rose Hair Tarantula, a Corn Snake, a Domesticated Rat and a Bearded Dragon.

Once again our residents showed such courage and even enjoyed handling the different animals.  Everyone's favourite was the Bearded Dragon!

It was an extremely interesting afternoon for us all. Our residents loved learning about the different species and sharing their experiences too.

Thank you to Dominique and Zoo Lab for another fantastic afternoon.

Crochet fun

Here at Fountains we love to try out new things and learn new skills. Our residents were thrilled to try out the art of Crocheting.

With the help of our wonderful Crocheting teacher Nora we spent the morning developing our skills whilst having fun.

As well as being a relaxing activity, Crocheting has some great health benefits as the small repetitive movements involved can keep your hands, arms and fingers supple and your eyes sharp.

Now we have learnt the basics we will be developing our Crocheting skills with more sessions over the coming months.

Fountains enjoy a Christmas Service

Fountains residents enjoyed joining together in prayer and reflection with a festive service from Dianne at the Solihull Methodist Church.

We sang carols and read prayers to the group, it was a wonderful morning for us all.

Dianne also presented all of our residents with beautiful hand-knitted Angel Decorations for our Christmas trees.

‘Thank you’ to Solihull Methodist Church for a year of beautiful services. We look forward to continuing with them in 2022.

David McFegan visits Fountains

It’s now only 11 days till Christmas and we are really getting into the festive spirit here at Fountains.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed listening to some live music from the fantastic David McFegan.

David filled the room with excitement with his wonderful accordion playing skills.

Everyone sung along to the songs and of course our dancing duo had to get up and have a dance.

Thank you David for a wonderful afternoon.
