Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Art gallery

Herbert Art Gallery

A fantastic morning adventure, our gentleman were able to start off with exploring the past by visiting "history through the years" displays. This was a great way in which the residents were able to make connections and share their knowledge on so many different subjects. The art gallery had so much to offer, the gentlemen were amazed at the details and the way they artists have managed to capture such details.

"This has been great, I'm so happy to explore and adventure out! i was happy to see some things older than me" joked George (resident) when viewing the dippy dinosaur display.

Incredible Eggs

This was such an exciting experience to have within our home. Our residents straight away were captured with interest in learning more about looking after the eggs which we hoped would hatch for us. Here at fountains care home look was on our side and the beautiful chicks showed themselves. I am happy to report that our chicks have gained lots of attention from everyone who comes to visit us. They have been named Nugget, Fluff, Cluck, Minx and Chirpy. We have had lots of reminiscing from our residents sharing all the stories about keeping chickens at home. “When I was younger my mother kept and old stove which she used to keep the chicks in to help them stay warm. I always find it funny how times have changed and we wouldn’t dare think to do that now” laughed Joy (resident).

Easter Fete

Another fantastic gathering of our residents with their family and friends. We had so much on offer for everyone to come along and join in. We were able to create Easter bonnets, go on a egg hunt in the garden, decorate biscuits and meet the Easter rabbit, who was bouncing around our home handing out special Easter egg treats.

Nutrition & Hydration Week

Here at Fountains we have been discussing the importance of keeping oneself healthy and how we can helps support you in taking those steps. We had a survey in which are residents shared with us their favourite fruits. With this information our activity coordinator created a fruitful surprise with a wide variety of fruits in which we created healthy snacks and shakes. Our residents, really enjoyed this experience, commenting in the bright colours and beautiful tastes. “This does take me back, every time I have strawberries, it reminds me of my brother and I Foraging the farmers field” Giggled resident.

Trip to the sea life centre

A wonderful surprise trip to our local sea life centre. This was an amazing experience for some of our residents with dementia, they were captivated by the different domains in which they could explore. This whole sensory session allowed them to unwind, relax, and learn more about the beautiful creature under the sea.

Birds of Prey

A fascinating time here at Fountains care home. We had the beautiful birds of prey come along and visit our residents. This was an activity to expand on the interest shown by our residents regarding National bird week, were we explored nature in our gardens. This was an exciting time in which are residents were able to come along and learn more about their lifestyles, everyone was given the opportunity to hold and touch them.

“Wow, this was an amazing experience. I’ve never thought that I would have an opportunity like this to get up and close to this snowy owl” praised Jenny Residents.
