Fairview House Care Home in Aberdeen

Fairview House is conveniently located close to plenty of local amenities and is within each reach of the beautiful Dee and Don countryside. Our purpose-built home provides 24-hour nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia. Our highly skilled and compassionate staff work hard to ensure Fairview House is not an establishment, but a home, with high quality care centred around the specific needs of each resident.

Dementia Care

The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.

Our high standards are reflected in all aspects of the home, including our hospitality and cooking. The home also has a wonderful and varied activities programme, centred around the needs and interests of residents. We provide concerts and church services every month and have daily programmes of activities, such as bingo, crafts, a beauty group and gardening. We also frequently go to coffee mornings in our local community and have regular outings in our minibus.

We believe the best way to judge a home is to visit and see how care and support is provided. So please feel free to drop in or give us a call.

Fiona Torrie

General Manager

Hi, my name is Fiona, and I am the General Manager here at Fairview. Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Fairview has to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

I have spent almost 40 years within Healthcare, working 25 years in the NHS within Mental Health Services before leaving to join Barchester in 2005 as a General Manager. Having achieved my Bachelor of nursing and a specialist qualification in care of the elderly at Dundee University, I then went on to complete my Masters in Dementia care at Stirling University. Throughout my nursing career my passion as always been on delivering high quality care to older people.

I have continued to study throughout and have gained NEBOSH general and fire qualifications and after spending 10 years as a General Manager with Barchester I changed my role and joined the company Health & Safety team as a Divisional Manager, working for 5 years supporting homes throughout the company.  I transferred to the role of Operations Manager which brings me back to working in our homes before taking the role of General Manager here at Fairview.
