Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Nigeria Day

As a home we're proud of the diversity that makes up our home and family and in what will become a regular event in the home, we wished to celebrate the culture of our dear and much valued Nigerian colleagues.

Our dedicated colleagues embracing their rich culture, bringing vibrant dress wear and dance to life for our beloved residents and relatives.

Later the aroma of delicious Nigerian dishes filled the dining room as our team prepared authentic mouthwatering meals. Our audience enjoyed experiencing the authentic flavors of Nigeria.

Blooming creations

We love showing our creative sides and were delighted when we received a selection of beautiful flowers from a family member and were soon placing in vases to display around the home, the colourful vases were soon brightening up a cold damp spring day. Thank you!

Karaoke Fun

Karaoke fun! In what is fast becoming a hugely popular and regular addition to our life enrichment schedule. Residents, loved ones and colleagues from around the home came together for an afternoon of musical delights!

We had an amazing time singing and dancing to our favourite songs and artists; Abba, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart and more!

Staff and residents shook their tambourines to Dancing Queen, clapped and sang along to the classics.

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Intergenerational Fun

Residents and Colleagues at Fairview House were delighted to welcome back the toddlers and parents from 'Moo Aberdeen'

The group children also enjoyed sing along with residents to their favourite songs such as ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan and many more.

To see the bonding and smiling faces between the young and the seniors was truly magical and we look forward to Moo Aberdeen's next visit to the home.

Grape Expectations - Wine Tasting

Staff and residents at the Fairview House Care Home, in Aberdeen, have invited members of the local community to join them for a wine tasting event hosted by the homes activities team.

The home came up with the idea to invite members of the local community to come and enjoy our beautiful café area and taste some delicious wines.

The afternoon was a big success with members of the local community stopping by for a glass or three.
