Activities at Derham House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

I have worked in the care sector for many years. I am fully trained in dementia awareness, and I have also trained as a dignity champion. I have been working here at Derham House since March 2019, and I am really enjoying my role here.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Derham House Care Home
Christmas Party
We had a fantastic Christmas party with Carly Hipson singing and an open buffet for our guests, washed down with lots & lots of drinks, from Buck's Fizz to wine & beers.
Residents and their family members joined us to dance the night away, and Barchy Bear helped Santa hand out the presents for residents.
We finished off with some karaoke before all heading to bed. What a party to remember – such fun!
Christmas School Choir
We had Draper Academy's beautiful school choir come in to sing some Christmas carols to us all. They were so amazing, and everyone enjoyed singing and dancing along.
We would like to thank all who sung and their teachers for giving up their time to brighten up our home during the festive season.

Birthday Bash
We celebrated a special birthday on our Memory Lane community. We all had a great time singing, dancing and eating cake – with the odd glass of wine or two!
Christmas Carols
On Thursday 14th December, we had a visit from our local school, who came to perform Christmas carols for residents. The children stay and interacted with everyone and residents at Gorseway were delighted.
Birthday Celebrations
A resident at Derham House recently celebrated her birthday. She went out for the second day in a row for a meal with her family and friends and had lots of 'drinks', so we were left to enjoy the chocolate cake made by our chef. Of course, we will save some for the birthday girl.
Deck the Halls
We are all enjoying the lead up to Christmas here at Derham House. For the past few weeks, residents and staff have all been making our home look as festive as we can.
