Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Daxter Board

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Daxter and I'm the activities coordinator here at Claremont Parkway. I've worked within care homes since moving to Kettering and have experience across the departments giving me a good understanding of all our resident's needs.

I'm passionate about providing tailored activities that truly engage each and every resident. Through getting to know them as individuals, I can work together with my colleagues to find life enriching experiences; small or large that will brighten their days whilst they reside with us.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Grand National Fun Day

This weekend we took advantage of The Grand National to have fun at the races!

In the morning residents picked a horse to cheer on during the afternoon’s race. We had much discussion on what colours we would choose if we were a jockey, before studying the odds and race history before selecting our favourites.

The afternoon started similar to the horses with a little gentle exercise before Karen hosted the ‘Claremont Grand National’ a game full of fun and hilarious commentary courtesy of Karen that induced plenty of giggles.

Resident; Phyllis commented “That was the funniest game I have played in a long time.”

Before the race we stopped at the 1st fence for refreshments and played a word game to see how many we could make from ‘The Grand National’ before watching the actual race.

It was certainly Phyllis's day as her sweepstake horse romped ahead to win!!!

Steve Jay Sings the Classics

Our residents love a game of dominoes in the morning, our cafe is a super location with cakes and coffee close to hand to keep us going! In the afternoon we were all toe tapping and hand clapping as we were entertained by the very talented Steve Jay with a beautiful rendition of 'I dreamed a dream' and many other songs that brought happy dancehall memories come flooding back.

Happy Birthday 'Derek'

Yesterday we started the afternoon activities with our hand exercises, which the residents are finding beneficial and as the weeks roll round we will be starting them with other gentle exercises as well as some relaxation to help with our physical and mental wellbeing!

We then played a physical game with encouragement to try and use a different throwing technique. Mary beat everyone with a very high score, this was followed by a quiz and facts on mythical creatures and legends.

We stopped briefly for refreshments and to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Derek before enjoying some of his cake made by Jorge the chef and finished the day with a game of snakes and ladders

Easter Fun with Busy Bees

It was wonderful to have a visit from the local nursery children at Busy Bees, who came to listen to an Easter story read by our lovely activities coordinator; Karen before going on an Egg hunt with the residents and joining our Easter bonnet parade. The residents took great joy in handing each child a home made Easter basket full of goodies.

it was certainly a fun packed intergenerational afternoon full of Easter blessings for everyone.

Good Friday Goodies

Today we enjoyed a game of Easter bingo and discussion group sharing facts surrounding Good Friday. The hot cross buns which were kindly donated by Tesco communities went down very well with a freshly brewed cup of tea!
