We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Life at Carlton Mansions Care Home
Indoor Bar & Pub Quiz
In light of pubs and restaurants opening this July, the team at Carlton Mansions decided to join in the fun with our indoor bar and a pub quiz. Residents raised their glasses of the good stuff in celebration and battled it out in a pub quiz. There were two question rounds and one picture round.
After months of only remote contact, family members are now allowed to stand 3 meters away from their loved ones on a social distant visit.
For many family members and residents, this has been an emotional, but joyful experience, with the hopes that we can return to a sense of familiarity soon.
Barchester has made every effort to ensure the safety of our residents and have complied with all government guidelines in the consideration of these visits.
We allow family members up to 30 minutes per visit on a scheduled booking system, requiring a temperature check and we ask them to sanitise their hands before and after the visit.
We insist no more than two people per visit and request they stand 3 meters away. All equipment is cleaned down before and after each visit.
Cream Tea Donation
On Friday 26th June, Carlton Mansions welcomed volunteers from Clifton Down Community Association to our driveway to collect cream tea kits made by the residents. These kits were delivered to members of the community, who are unable to leave their homes due to shielding. Thank you!
Residents at Carlton Mansion care home took time to honour the great work of thier carers by creating a ‘Self-Care-Kit.’ The kit was presented in a gift box, made by the residents, which included a handmade bath bomb, scented tea light and a thank you note to thank the care staff at the home for making a real difference to the lives of those in their care.
A Royal Celebration
On Saturday 13th June, our home enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating the Queen’s 94th birthday with some tea tasting and cake baking. Our residents tried a number of different teas, ranging from peach flavour to turmeric coconut and vanilla. Green tea was, of course, the classic Earl Grey and English breakfast.
We're welcoming new residents!
