Activities at Camellia House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Linda Wilkie
I have worked in this home for nearly 30 years, so it is very much part of my life. I started as a part-time Domestic when my children were small and, as time has gone by, I have become a Senior Carer and the Activities Coordinator.
I have NAPA and OOMPH qualifications, as well as an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care.
I am very passionate about my role, as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish, feeling fulfilled in their mind, body and soul, maintaining past hobbies, yet have the opportunity to try new experiences.
I have built up a very good rapport with our team, our residents, family and friends, and I have built many links with the local community, which all help the residents get the most out of life at Camellia House.
I enjoy every day; the smiles on the faces I see are reward for doing a job I love.

Life at Camellia House Care Home
Happy Birthday
Celebrations have been in full swing at Camellia House, as one of its residents reaches her 86th birthday.
Shanti was joined by staff, her son Sunil and other residents as she blew out the candles of her cake, created by Chef, Dan, in the garden following a birthday BBQ, provided by the Catering Team.
Shanti, who is very proud to have been a teacher for over 40 years in Kenya and England said:” It has been a lovely day”
Brighton Nyagomo, General Manager at the home added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating this lovely lady’s birthday, making the most of the fabulous weather and enjoying our extensive gardens.”
Bernie's Nostalgia Club
Camellia House care home, enjoyed the company of Bernie and Leah as they were treated to a spectacular afternoon of seaside memories. Bernie had personalised the presentation by finding out our residents memories of their trips to the coast and their foreign holidays and the afternoon was filled with fun and laughter.

Jubilee Celebrations
Excitement has been running high at Camellia House where residents and staff have been busy making Jubilee-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of head chef Dan Cobzaru in preparation for the Jubilee. Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a Queen. Over the bank holiday weekend the home had a Jubilee themed show, quizzes, games and a Jubilee Lunch. The whole home came together to celebrate our longest reigning monarch and reminisce about what she means to each and every one of us.
Ice Cream!
Mr Pietro Pizzo brought along his van so that the residents and staff could experience the thrill of queueing up and selecting their favourite treats.
Nostalgia Club
A fabulous time with Bernie, who gave us an afternoon of reminiscence and nostalgia, including photos of the school we attended and the houses where we lived.
