Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

English National Ballet musical journey

We celebrated Last Night of the Proms virtually with members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland.

We listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took us on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making. With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert got our feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

National Read a Book Day

Today we were very happy to mark National Read a Book Day, as we all share a passion for reading.

To celebrate the day, our residents spent some time talking about their favourite books, authors and libraries, and took part in a creative writing session.

The ladies also were delighted to visit Langham’s Book shop in Heswall and browse the shelves, as they did sharing their favourite authors and books they have read.

V&A Dundee exhibition tour

We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.

We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.

And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.

Residents enjoy virtual trip to Iceland

We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.

Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!

It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.

Home host Summer Fete

Caldy Manor hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a  visit from Alwood Donkeys, BBQ, tombola stall, live enternainment and games which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.

Staff at Caldy Manor made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments including, Mocktails served from our Tiki Bar and burgers and hotdogs prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!

Resident, Cynthia Radford said, “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing. The weather wasn’t good but seeing the donkeys made it worth the effort. I used to look after Donkeys so it was wonderful to see them again. Staff did a great
