Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Keeping fit together!

We have been kindly donated a wonderful exercise machine by one of staff. Our residents love exercising and are thrilled to have this available to them whenever they want it. We all had a go during our weekly exercise class and it was a massive hit.

Our residents are already in conversation when they will use it next. Our exercise class is one of our most popular classes here at Caldy Manor.

Trip to West Kirby

Our residents had a lovely afternoon trip to West Kirby promenade. We chatted about the times they walked to Hilbre Island every Sunday with the children and that they are cherished memories. We also have a resident who has moved here so doesn’t know the local area, so it was nice for her to see our beautiful surroundings. Our weekly mini bus trips are very popular and we have some great trips coming very soon.

Rummage Boxes

We have introduced new rummage boxes in our memory lane and they have worked wonders. They have promoted engagement and conversation. Our feedback from our staff on the rummage boxes are “I think there great. Our residents faces looks so animated ,happy and laughing, it’s so nice to see. They really have helped our memory lane residents”. We will keep updating the boxes to keep them interesting.

Valentine’s Day

To celebrate Valentine’s day we had a range of different activities and events lined up for the residents. We did some arts and crafts based around Valentine’s day which we then used to decorate the home with. We decorated love hearts and made bunting. We also made some heart shaped paper chains and stuck balloons all around the home as well. The residents had lots of fun embracing their creative side to make some really fabulous decorations. We also enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s day lunch with the dining room and tables all decorated and some amazing food. This was followed by an afternoon of singing and dancing as we enjoyed a performance from a local ukulele band, 2 New Pennies. We then tested our knowledge with a Valentine’s day quiz which really challenged the residents but they loved and smashed it!

Pancake Day

We had a blast on pancake day this year. The residents were able to make their own pancakes using lots of different ingredients. They all then had a go at flipping their pancakes- some were more successful than others. Nevertheless they all still had a wonderful time. We then covered our pancakes with all our favourite toppings from a wide selection. Toppings included fruits like strawberries and bananas, chocolate sauce, syrup and jam. The residents ended this wonderful day by indulging in their pancakes which were absolutely delicious.

Chinese New Year

This year we went all out for Chinese New Year and the residents enjoyed a week packed with a range of different activities in preparation of and to celebrate Chinese New Year. We started with making some decorations to put around the home. We drew around our hands and decorated them before sticking them all together to make a dragon. The residents also made lanterns which we were able to stick up around the home which they loved. We then had a go at some Chinese writing which the residents did not only enjoyed but were very good at. We had a go writing our names, using the Chinese alphabet to help us and we also wrote common phrases that were used for Chinese New Year. We finished the week enjoying some lovely Chinese food prepared by our chef, having fortune cookies and doing a quiz. We had such a wonderful week!
