Activities at Brook House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Winter Olympics at Brook House

Residents and staff had a great time playing various games. They were divided into four teams, named after symbolic flowers: Rose, Daisy, Lily and Poppy, and, over the course of two weeks, played nine sports designed to suit their skills.

The games included short-range ball throws, a two meter hoop, balloon volleyball, bowling, dart-throwing and a variety of quizzes.

There was a lot of laughter and fun, and everyone had a great time.

Happy 80th Birthday

In February, one of our lovely residents, Edward, celebrated his 80th birthday in style. Edward really enjoyed his special birthday cake and a glass of wine.

Edward received some wonderful presents from team members and friends at the home, which he thoroughly enjoyed opening. Many happy returns Edward!

Pet therapy

Brook House was visited  by our maintenance man Sorin's pet dog and is a well trained as a pet therapy dog.  Paco visited resident's and brought joy to us all, filling the home with such excitement and Ooh's and Ahh's.

Paco visited residents in their rooms as some of our lovely residents could not come to the lounge. Their faces and the fact they were trying to stroke Paco made it a motivational therapy as well as a sensory activity. Pet therapy covers so many of our physical, emotional and sensory needs that Paco brought so much to the residents daily life at Brook House.

Birthday celebrations

As we know how important birthdays are for residents and families, it was a lovely surprise for residents who enjoyed a birthday cake made by our talented chef. Residents received presents and it was even more enjoyable by sharing the special moment with the family.

Person-centered Activities

Here at Brook House we always encourage the residents to get involved in engaging activities that will stimulate their mental health and improve their overall well-being.

Martin, a resident at the home, was encouraged by the Activity Coordinator - Karolina, who took time to gain his trust and confidence, to join in with a game or two of Scrabble and bingo.

Martin then went on outings, especially horse racing a favourite hobby of his and he even enjoyed a seaside trip.

Fiesta Supper

Our kitchen team's culinary skills were on full display and our residents enjoyed it all.
