Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

30th Anniversary

Awel y Mor held our 30th Anniversary of being open, this was our first day since 2020. We started off with a coffee morning with delicious homemade cakes which the residents and families enjoyed. We then spent a lovely hour with Sheila’s Pets, where the residents and families had a cuddle with the rabbits, they were amazed with the Shetland pony at how well behaved the she was. This was followed by a barbecue lunch,  where there was a choice of hotdogs, burgers various meats,  side salad, coleslaw and chips. After lunch there was live entertainment with Chris Cane who sang some old and new songs which always go down well with the residents, fun was had by all. There was also various stalls, a raffle prize, photo albums with photos throughout the years for families to look at and photos of what Awel y Mor got up during the pandemic, and a visit from our local councillor, Andrew Stevens. The atmosphere was amazing and it was lovely to see families and friends back in the home, what a lovely day.
