Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Living Well Community Group

Living Well Community Group

Residents had a great time at the Living Well Community Group; they played bingo, had a good ol' singalong and also did some exercises, which everyone really loved.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Residents had fun reading their fortune cookies in celebration of the Year of the Pig. We had prawn crackers on the afternoon tea trolley to continue the celebrations.

Chair Renovation Project

After a couple of residents requested to do a woodwork project, we decided to get an old chair and renovate it. Everyone had fun sanding it down, and the next stage is deciding on the varnish and fabrics. Watch this space for the finished product!

Men in Sheds Donation

Men in Sheds Donation

Men in Sheds Poynton has donated a bird table to our home. The table has been made by re-cycling furniture from our home that could no longer be used. Thank you, Men in Sheds!

Fish & Chip Lunch

Fish & Chip Lunch

Gentleman residents enjoyed a fish & chip lunch together, which was washed down with a little wine.

Winnie the Pooh Day

Winnie the Pooh Day

We enjoyed a day of Winnie the Pooh silliness & face prop making! Carers wore their best Pooh pjs, which really put a smile on residents' faces. We enjoyed reminiscing about A. A. Milne. In the afternoon, we had Pooh’s favourite, honey on flapjacks, and watched the original Winnie the Pooh movie. A great & silly time was had by all!
