Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Love is in the air!

Love was in the air here at Adlington Manor as we celebrated Valentine’s with a very special 1960s themed day. Each of our Residents received a red rose, a delicious heart shaped chocolate and a packet of love heart sweets.

Did you know that Love Hearts first went into production in 1954!

The homes hospitality team whipped up a delicious menu serving firm favourites – Baked Alaska and Pavlova – what is there not to love! We hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday celebrations are a firm fixture on our life enrichment programme and we are only too delighted to celebrate each and every one, our birthday girl was presented with a very special home-made cake. Happy Birthday from everyone at Adlington Manor!

Christmas Day

Here at Adlington Manor we had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved themed movies, making fresh mince pies, family visits followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, puddings and cakes.

In the morning we welcomed Father Christmas and his elves from the North Pole, who brought gifts to all our residents - everyone was busy opening their presents and enjoying a glass of bubbly before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.

After lunch, we tuned in to watch and listen to the King's speech. Our day was filled with joy, smiles, music and laughter.

Festive spirit

Residents and colleagues at Adlington Manor continue to embrace the festive season!  Everyone is revelling in the festive atmosphere, indulging in a delectable feast that includes mince pies, cheese and biscuits, and a couple of glasses of bubbly, all expertly prepared by the home's hospitality team.

Fiona Gough, General Manager says, "Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year, and our fantastic residents thoroughly enjoy embracing the festive spirit. We have spared no effort in making this celebration special. Witnessing everyone immerse themselves in the Christmas joy is truly heart-warming - it's undoubtedly my favourite time of the year."

Gingerbread Houses

We love any excuse to get creative! With a batch of gingerbread Residents got busy creating and decorating their houses with icing, buttercream and dolly mixtures to make some of the glitziest gingerbread houses in town.

The gingerbread houses look really lovely and they are indeed delicious - what a fun way to spend the morning!
