Woman raises £1,500 for dementia through London to Paris cycle

Alzheimer's Society contributor Norma Chapman has completed a four-day cycle challenge from London to Paris, raising vital funds for Kettering, Corby & District Carers who specialise in dementia.

Norma was one of 72 cyclists who took part in the challenge and she raised an impressive £1,500 for the charity.

Ms Chapman told the charity: "Taking part in this challenge was one of the best experiences of my life, embracing every emotion known, we cried, sang, laughed and ached in forgotten places. I feel so very proud to have achieved this whilst raising awareness and funds for the cause."

She thanked everybody who supported her through their raffle prizes, donations, ideas and attendance at a number of functions, as well as tolerating her "incessant ramblings in preparation of the trip".

The money raised will allow the institution to organise this year's Christmas party for people with dementia as well as their carers.

In the UK, around 60,000 deaths a year are directly attributable to dementia.
