Record attempt hopes to raise money for Alzheimer's research

A leading singer, actress and playwright is aiming to build her way into the Guinness Book of Records in aid of the Alzheimer's Research Trust (ART).

Eleanor Bennet, will try and construct the world's toilet roll tower in a Reading shopping centre on March 27th to help fund dementia research.

Up to 6,000 rolls will be used to take the tower in excess of 15 metres and rolls can be sponsored by the public for £1 each.

It will not be the first time Ms Bennet has lent her support to the ART, having released a charity single in the build-up to Mother's Day.

Ms Bennet has first-hand experience of dementia, having worked in care homes in-between acting jobs. She is currently starring in a theatre show which is a set in an elderly care home.

"I've decided to do something really eccentric and fun to grab people's attention and to raise awareness of the hundreds and thousands of people across the country who live with this dreadful condition," Ms Bennet said.

Rebecca Wood, chief executive of the ART, thanked Ms Bennet for her support and said the money would help to pay for further research.
