Man with MS completes 680-mile cycling fundraiser

A keen cyclist with multiple sclerosis has managed to raise over £4,000 for charity, after cycling across Europe.

Richard Gleadhill managed to pedal over 680 miles from London to Geneva, despite struggling from symptoms related to the condition which include chronic fatigue, stiffness and poor balance, according to the York Press.

Speaking to the newspaper, the 43-year-old said: "It can only be described as eight days of pain.

"The daily slog was nothing short of gruelling, but I didn’t get off my bike once, and I do feel very proud."

Mr Gleadhill was raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which recently announced it has enjoyed a record-breaking year for funding.

The charity has managed to secure funding for 12 research projects, costing over £1.6 million.
