Greenock care workers move closer to winning national award

Two dedicated members of staff at a care home in Greenock have reached the semi-finals of a national award which recognises their hard work.

Karen Dillon and James Sweeney, who work at the Balclutha Court care home, are now one step away from the final of the Barchester Healthcare Care Awards, which celebrate the standards of care provided to residents throughout the UK, reports the Greenock Telegraph.

Ms Dillon is the home's activities co-ordinator and along with resident chef Mr Sweeney, was among the 200 names that were put forward by Barchester homes across the UK.

Balclutha Court's general manager Alison Dickson told the publication: "I am so proud of Karen and James.

"It's a great achievement that they have been selected as semi-finalists."

Located in the West end of Greenock, close to the River Clyde, Balclutha Court is set in attractive landscaped gardens and is rated as 'very good' by the Scottish Care Commission for the Regulation of Care.
