Dementia Village to be centrepiece at upcoming exhibition

The Department of Health has announced that it will be dedicating a large portion of the exhibition hall at its upcoming Healthcare Innovation Expo at the ExCel Centre in London this month to dementia.

Held on Wednesday March 14th and Thursday the 15th, the expo is the largest of its kind in Europe, with more than 10,000 people expected to attend.

The centrepiece will be the 'Dementia Village', which will showcase good practice and innovation in dementia care and research.

Inside the village will be a main stage for speakers plus a village green and bandstand for entertainment activities plus a house in which ways to support people with dementia will be demonstrated.

There will also be a school hosting sessions which will allow people to become Dementia Friends, and a garden area which will give delegates a quiet place to reflect as well as information on how a family garden can be beneficial to people with the cognitive condition.
