Conference to explore dance therapy for dementia patients

A conference in Liverpool is to explore the idea that dance classes could help people with dementia.

Memory will take place at the city's Bluecoat venue, and will bring together artists, health professionals and families of those living with the condition, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Chaturangan Dance Company has already teamed up with the Merseyside Dance Initiative and Aspire two create two new dance pieces to highlight the issue.

Delegates will then discuss the latest research and explore the latest techniques to establish if and how dementia could be used to combat the development of dementia, the publication notes.

Tickets for the event, which takes place on December 10th and 11th, are £90.

Leading dementia charity the Alzheimer's Society recently expressed concern that the government's Comprehensive Spending Review could stretch local authorities' ability to provide support too far.

This is despite the promise of an extra £2 billion to help provide social care for older people.
