Blood pressure superpill released in UK

Those who suffer from blood pressure can now access a three-in-one superpill.

The new treatment combines three existing medications and will cut the number of tablets patients will need to take, making treatment simpler.

Dr Sharlin Ahmed, research liaison officer at the Stroke Association, stated: "Many people with high blood pressure are required to take multiple pills every day to reduce their blood pressure ... but calculating when each pill needs to be taken can often be confusing."

High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of strokes and heart attacks in the UK.

A study of elderly men revealed that high blood pressure in mid-life, combined with smoking, dramatically increases a person's risk of experiencing a stroke and ages the brain.

Researchers used Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to investigate the brain in later life and discovered that high blood pressure can determine brain development during the aging process and increase the risk of stroke.
