Battle heart disease with 'moderate exercise'
Nurses dealing with people in need of home care have been told that only a little exercise can be beneficial for beating back heart disease.
Linda Main, dietetic advisor for Heart UK - The Cholesterol Charity, said that patients do not need to overdo it when remaining active, but could take up 30 minutes of moderate exercise for five days a week.
Ms Main described adequate exercise as doing any activity that makes them slightly out of breath but still able to hold a conversation.
"This will vary from person to person. So it could vary from light housework to gardening, to brisk walking or light jogging, dependent upon the person's level of fitness," she added.
Dr Alison Jeffery, from the Peninsula Medical School, recently said that too much weight is one of the main causes of the disease and can be averted through a healthy diet and regular exercise.
