ART to host public talk on the future of dementia research

People with an interest in dementia research have been invited to a public talk in the north-east on July 21st.

Age Concern Newcastle will host the event, which will provide up-to-date information on the latest work towards finding treatments and cures for dementia.

The talk is open to anyone who has an interest in dementias such as Alzheimer's disease, including carers, family members or health professionals, according to Dr Simon Ridley, the head of research at the Alzheimer's Research Trust.

He went on: "We will give an overview of the latest progress in dementia research, the challenges we face and an indication of what the future holds.

"There will also be a questions and answers session so that people can raise queries and express their opinions."

Attendance is free but spaces must be booked in advance.

According to the Alzheimer's Society, the number of people in the UK living with dementia is expected to exceed one million by 2025.
