Barchester care home celebrates Britain being Great

Residents at a Barchester care home in the Midlands have taken a trip down memory lane to look back on why Britain is so Great, it has been reported.

A recent piece for the Macclesfield Express detailed the efforts of Prestbury Beaumont Care Home, hosting themes including history, classic cars and birds of prey associated with our island nation.

Last week, a singalong was organised for the start of the event, while Tuesday saw classic cars and a steam engine gracing the home.

Wednesday was perhaps the highlight of the week, when a Tudor banquet was organised for everyone while National Trust members in traditional dress entertained those who attended.

However, the family barbecue was perhaps best received, bringing together families linked to the home through their older relatives who are cared for by Barchester.

Mark Shockledge, the general manager at the care home, said: "It was a great opportunity for families to get together, enjoy a barbecue and spend the day in each other's company. It was very successful.

"After the week had finished we had quite a lot of letters from everyone saying how much they had enjoyed it."

Prestbury Beaumont is one of the many jewels in the crown of Barchester Healthcare's offerings, being rated 'Excellent' by the Care Quality Commission, the independent body that regularly inspects all care homes in England.
