Barchester pioneers technological health monitoring

Barchester Healthcare has announced its partnership with NHS Norfolk to deliver a computer system which can monitor the health of residents remotely in a bid to improve quality of care.

The new Telehealth system is being piloted in Barchester's Woodside House Care Home in Norwich, a program which allows carers to keep an eye on blood pressure, weight, temperature, glucose levels and other vital signs and test results.

It was revealed that 26 residents at Woodside are being covered by the system, which can detect trends and serve as an early warning system through the scheme's feeding of information to nurses and clinicians.

Commenting on Barchester's move, NHS and Telehealth expert Ruth Nobbs said: "We are delighted with the way that Woodside House has embraced the technology and the opportunity to work with the trust and their supporting GP surgery in this effective way and all for the very real benefit of their residents."

Woodside House Care Home specialises in clinical care, with experts in neurological conditions for those over the age of 50 being the establishment's forte.
