Why Work with Barchester

Why You Should Work with Barchester Healthcare

We believe that Barchester Healthcare's 170 plus care homes give some of the best care in the UK to our residents, and make up a network of incredibly rewarding workplaces for all of our staff.

Growing together, personally and professionally

We care about all aspects of your personal and professional development while you are working with Barchester Healthcare. We demonstrate this by being a pro-active, progressive learning organisation.

While our staff vary in their levels of qualification and experience according to their roles, we are fully committed to on-going staff learning and development. In addition to 'in the workplace' training, where we aim to learn something new each and every day, this means that every member of staff is coached and supported in their work.

This investment in our people is highly beneficial for the long term well-being of our residents and it makes for a happy home. The Barchester Chef's Academy is a perfect example of how much importance we place on training for our staff, and we encourage participation in our apprenticeship schemes. E-learning and NVQ programmes become an integral part of on-going development as an employee, and we run workshops to focus on core skills and team-building. We also have a programme of external seminars, master and specialist skill programmes, for continual professional development.

We never underestimate the value of our staff

In addition to the working environment and continuous professional development, we place great emphasis on helping to maintain a positive work-life balance for all our people.

Parents with younger children can take advantage of our childcare vouchers scheme, in conjunction with Busy Bees childcare. This scheme naturally represents a saving for our employees, personally, in tax and NI contributions, but we also hope it shows we understand the importance of balancing a fulfilling work placement with the anxiety of finding the right kind of care for your children during that time.

In addition to your pay and training, we provide an exciting set of benefits including discounts for many high street shops, restaurants & leisure activities, along with access to employee help lines to support you in times of need.

We care, about you

From day one, we know that you will feel 'at home'. You will be teamed with a 'buddy', for a guided induction to the way we work. Many stay with us for many years, which is a reflection of the happy working environment we promote and work towards, at all times.

If you would like to be part of our great success story, and work with people who really care, then why not contact us?
