Kevin Whately has visited a Barchester care home as part of his documentary on dementia this week.
Kevin Whately, the actor best known for his role as detective Robbie Lewis, Inspector Morse's partner, visited a Barchester care home as part of his documentary on dementia this week.
Appearing on ITV's Tonight programme on Monday, the screen performer dropped in to Hilton Park Care Centre in Bottisham, Cambridge, to highlight the condition which one in three people over the age of 65 will die from.
Mr Whately, who is an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society, is close to the disease through his mother Mary, who suffers from an advanced version of the disease and currently resides in a care home.
The documentary also highlighted the expert care which Barchester Healthcare provides through its Memory Lane Communities, a person-centred approach to treating dementia.
Mr Whately said of the condition: "I feel passionately that more needs to be done to raise awareness about dementia - and to get the right treatments and care for those with this disease."
The actor recently joined a host of other famous screen stars such as Jude Law and Alan Rickman to salute the life and works of Anthony Minghella at Medina High School on the Isle of Wight.
