Two Barchester Healthcare care homes have received recognition for the high standards of service they provide, winning four awards at an industry event.

Rhiwlas Care Home came joint first in the Care Practitioner category for the work done by Alison Davies, while Sarah Walsh at Bod Hyfryd scooped the award for Best Chef and Lisa Pierce and Dannae Edwards, both at Bod Hyfryd, were runners up in the Carer and Young Carer categories.

Presented by the minister of health Brian Gibbons, the awards are designed to reward hard work and improved performance within the care home industry and were attended by over 400 guests.

Mike Parsons, the chief executive of Barchester Healthcare, welcomed the awards and said: "This was an excellent result for our two homes in Flint and demonstrates the high quality of staff we have to provide top quality care to over 100 residents in these two homes.

"Barchester Healthcare will continue to invest in training and developing our staff to ensure that we continue to be the top quality provider of care."
