Daughter of former resident raises money for Barchester Foundation
26/03/2008
The daughter of a former Barchester care home resident plans to hold a ball to benefit the Barchester Foundation.
The Barchester Foundation is set to benefit from a masquerade ball being held by the daughter of a former resident.
Jackie Ahearn is holding the lavish event in honour of her mother Margo Byrne who died of rectal cancer in 2006, reports the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald.
In later life Ms Byrne was a resident of the White Lodge care home in Swindon before being transferred to a hospice during her final weeks.
"I was told that mum would only have eight months to live and, thanks to the help of both homes, she went on for another ten months, Ms Ahearn told the local newspaper.
"The care and dedication that she was shown at the end of her life was tremendous and I just want to be able to give something back."
The Margo's Masquerade Ball will be held at the Four Pillars Cotswold Waterpark hotel on April 26. It will start with a champagne reception, to be followed by a three-course meal, charity auction, raffle and fun casino.
