A famous author suffering from Alzheimer's disease has given his support to a new project opened by one of the world's leading providers of pharmaceuticals.

A famous author suffering from Alzheimer's disease has given his support to a new project opened by one of the world's leading providers of pharmaceuticals.

Terry Pratchett has fully endorsed the unveiling of the European Knowledge Centre, a strategic base set up by Japanese firm Eisai to provide discovery research, clinical development, production and marketing of drugs capable of fighting such neurodegenerative disorders.

The new facility it based in Hatfield's business park and is situated next to the UK's base for T-Mobile.

It is estimated that 500 jobs have been created by the initiative of Eisai, which will consolidate its entire workforce to the location to make their work as cost effective and productive as possible to help those with the likes of dementia.

Eisai believes the UK base will also provide a centre for its European "value chain".
