"Memory cafe" opens in Wilts

In order to help those with dementia, a "memory cafe" has been established in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire County Council and Alzheimer's Support have joined forces to create a so-called "memory cafe" to help those suffering from dementia to come together and discuss the condition, it has been reported.

Established in Westbury's Fulling Bridge Farm, the first meeting is to take place on July 9th and will allow attendees to look at each other's situations and learn from one another.

Speaking to the BBC, Wiltshire County Council deputy leader John Thomson said of the scheme: "This new cafe is a great development and is based on what we know works.

"It will offer a friendly and welcoming place where families can go together and find out how others deal with the illness and its consequences."

Terry Pratchett recently highlighted the good work that is planned to go ahead at a new centre established in June, after Japanese firm Eisai created a strategic pharmaceuticals base in Hatfield to work on a cure and other treatments for dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
