Windermere House Independent Hospital

Enabling recovery from enduring mental illness through choice, change and positive lifestyle.
We work in partnership with PCTs across England to provide a rehabilitation focused, step down service from medium or low secure accommodation for adults living with enduring mental health conditions.
Stepping up to Recovery
Our dynamic and highly trained specialist team use a recovery model of care to empower individuals to take control of their daily life.
Via mutually supportive relationships people are enabled to direct their own treatment, write their own care plans and define their mental health needs from their own perspective.
Through informed choice, individuals pick which therapies, activities or sessions they feel would benefit them the most.
Daily therapies include structured one to one psychology sessions led by our Consultant Psychologist, life skills sessions led by our Occupational Therapist and therapeutic and recreational activity supported by our Activities Coordinator. Additional nurse-led sessions for individuals or groups are also provided to meet identified needs.
Promoting Active Citizenship
At Windermere House, people enjoy excellent social links with our local community.
Social club membership, participation in community events, visits to the local leisure centre or lively town centre, shopping for meals and access to academic or leisure courses at nearby Hull College are all part of daily life.
We can bring back hope, security, empowerment, inclusion and meaning to lives that have so often been characterised by despair, isolation and fear.
Referrals
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission as an Independent Hospital to take both detained and informal clients.
Referrals via the NHS can be made directly to the Hospital Director and admission is based on a clinical assessment carried out by our multi-disciplinary team.
