Considered the ‘traditional’ county of the UK with its country inns and relaxing atmosphere, Carmarthenshire is perhaps best known as the ‘Garden of Wales’. Located in the southwest, it is the country’s third largest county with a population of approximately 178,000, 50 per cent of whom speak Welsh. For centuries, battles raged over Carmarthenshire’s spectacular mountains and rolling hills. Today, it’s better known for its beautiful secluded landscapes, ancient forests, picturesque rivers and vast expanses of golden sandy beaches. It’s even said to be a little magical, with Arthurian legend suggesting this was where the wizard Merlin hailed from.
