South East England

As one of the country’s nine regions, the South East of England could rival any country when it comes to output and success.  Home to eight million people spread across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex, it boasts some serious statistics.  Home to 750,000 businesses and 16 universities - including the prestigious University of Oxford – it is the second largest economy after London, and rivals that of Singapore, Denmark and Greece.  This is down to its strong financial services sectors in Surrey, Berkshire and Kent, and high technology manufacturing around Oxford.  Then add tourism to this.  With over 80 per cent of the region considered rural, the South East also offers beautiful countryside, coastal areas and an abundance of culture, including Glyndebourne Festival Opera held each year between May and August.
